Why I Became an Animator
I already have an Associates’ Degree in Computer Networking Technology, but I graduated just as the economy turned south and I haven’t been able to find steady work in the IT field. It is sort of hard to get any work when there is people out there with Bachelor’s, have many certifications, and years of experience willing to work for entry level wages.
One of the main reasons why I have decided to go for computer animation is because I have seen computer animation in its infancy on an old computer system called AMIGA. I was using this system back in the late 80’s. Its graphic capabilities were years more advance then Apple and PCs computers of its time. I have seen lots of awesome animations that were created on that old system. I know that “Blade Runner” used it for its FX in the movie, and it was AMIGA that created all the animations in the TV series “Babylon 5”. I have always wondered how they do that, now I know… Well at least I know how they do it today. To do a lot of animation back then it was mostly computer programming, and not the cool GUI interfaces that we have now.
Another reason why I am going for computer animation is that I am an artist. I have been drawing all of my life, and I have done painting, wood carving, pottery, and I am also a musician. Guitar and Keyboard are my instruments of choice. So I decided to combine two of my passion into a career, computers and art. I believe that I have a good shot in making this work.
